Researcher/Reporter - Network Communications - US Based

Roles and Responsibilities

OTR Global's Network Communications group is looking for a Researcher in the U.S. to join its global team. The individual in this role will work closely with senior researchers in the group to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment audience by conducting primary research. The Network Communications Researcher should be able to efficiently develop new relationships with industry professionals - typically senior managers of North American wireless carriers and network operators, service partners for public cloud providers, wholesalers, and other high-level individuals - and maintain those relationships over time.
The Researcher needs to be creative, curious, and most of all determined to build a dependable list of contacts often viewed as difficult to reach. The Reporter’s primary responsibility will be conducting in-depth interviews and contributing source feedback to research reports. Regular writing opportunities may be assigned after showing ability to deliver high quality source interviews, so clear, concise writing and communication skills are other important aspects of this role. This is a telecommuting position, and a unique opportunity to work with and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research companies in the securities industry.

Professional and Personal Qualifications

  • Background in investigative reporting, research and/or network engineering and network infrastructure for wireless service providers; knowledge of the financial industry and investment basics a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the telecommunications, network engineering, or experience in journalism and research of network communications topics.
  • Ability to develop new sources across various network communications, infrastructure and cloud services topics, and maintain relationships over time in a virtual setting; existing high-level wireless carrier, components OEMs and service partners sources a plus.
  • Understanding of the key trends shaping the telecommunications carrier and supplier landscape and LTE/5G technologies development, and ability to identify inflections in those trends; knowledge of network components industry, data center and cloud technologies a plus.
  • Well developed, positive communication and excellent interviewing skills; ability to “connect the dots” and clearly articulate research conclusions.
  • Must be available for occasional travel to key industry events in North America for in-person networking/source development opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, proactive thinking, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and work under pressure; schedule flexibility a must.
  • Proven ability to work well within teams, self-motivated, showing initiative, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Must be comfortable working remotely.

The Cyclicals Researcher should be able to efficiently develop new relationships with industry professionals - typically equipment dealers, commercial fleet managers, distributors, transportation and logistics executives, and other high-level individuals - and maintain those relationships over time.
The Researcher needs to be creative, curious, and most of all determined to build a dependable list of contacts often viewed as difficult to reach. The Reporter’s primary responsibility will be conducting in-depth interviews and contributing source feedback to research reports. This is a telecommuting, hourly position, and a unique opportunity to work with and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research companies in the securities industry.

Research Associate will work closely with researchers in the Global Cyclicals team to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence. Professional and Personal Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience researching, analyzing and/or writing about industry trends; prior experience in transportation or logistics industry, working in sales or procurement of industrial equipment and/or services, and knowledge of the financial industry and investment basics a plus.
  • Understanding of the key trends shaping the transportation and industrial equipment industry and key OEM companies, and an ability to identify and articulate inflections in those trends.

Operations Associate - Remote

Roles and Responsibilities

The Operations Associate will support multiple research teams by building prospecting contact lists, as well as conducting secondary research and pulling together summaries. Individual in this role is highly inquisitive, flexible and able to efficiently support multiple teams. Ideal candidate is thorough and attentive to detail, and most of all determined to build and organize dependable lists of high quality contact leads from multiple databases. Deciphering and prioritizing information from secondary research reading, as well as assembling clear and relevant summaries are other key aspects of this role. The Operations Associate will work closely with Operations Managers, Editors and Reporters.

Professional and Personal Qualifications

  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Ability to filter through sourcing/recruitment databases to identify high quality relevant leads with contact information.
