ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OTR Global’s Editorial Services team edits and publishes the firm’s research reports daily for institutional investment clients and is seeking a Copy Editor to join the team. The Copy Editor will be responsible for the following:

  • Copyedit, fact check and proofread research reports, daily email flash briefing and weekly research summary
  • Review data and interview content to ensure report conclusions are sound and connect the dots with OTR’s prior research
  • Collaborate with reporters and editors during the editing process and help them clarify their message
  • Assist editing of marketing documents, social media posts and style guide -Carry out some administrative tasks, such as sending meeting invitations

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of work experience as an editor
  • Strong line editing, copyediting and proofreading skills
  • Eye for detail and spotting factual errors and inconsistencies
  • Healthy dose of intellectual curiosity, combined with a positive attitude and strong work ethic; strong commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to see trends in data and be able to accurately tell a story based on that data; basic mathematical skills, statistical instincts
  • Ability to analyze report findings, understand conclusions and think critically about how best to convey a message
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with internal researchers and reporters
  • Ability to maintain quality under pressure/deadlines and quickly prioritize and shift gears; strong organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of AP Stylebook and strong command of English grammar
  • Familiarity with the financial industry a plus
  • Hold or be willing to obtain Series 7 and Series 24 FINRA licenses
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Excel a plus

Research Operations Manager - TMT: Technology

POSITION LOCATION

Either a fully remote position, or a hybrid schedule for candidates based near Purchase, NY.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OTR is seeking a Research Operations Manager to join its global team covering enterprise technology and enterprise software. The individual in this role will be responsible for planning the research calendar, facilitating a consistent workflow in the teams, and providing support to the Research Leaders with analysis of primary research findings, compiling research report elements, and conducting secondary research. The Research Operations Manager will also develop and help manage prospective source lists. They will work closely with the research leaders in the Global TMT-Technology teams to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence, generate new research content and client event ideas, and coordinate custom research efforts for clients. This is a unique opportunity to work with and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research companies in the securities industry.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in research, research analysis and/or writing about industry trends; prior experience in enterprise technology, and knowledge of the financial industry and investment basics a plus.Understanding of the key trends shaping the enterprise software and security, and other technology industry sectors, and an ability to identify and articulate inflections in those trends.
  • The ideal candidate has prior project management and/or personnel oversight experience. Proven ability to take ownership and run multiple projects, problem solve and maintain positive communication are important skills to succeed in this role.
  • Exceptional communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to “connect the dots” and clearly articulate research conclusions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, proactive thinking, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and work under pressure. The candidate must be a fast learner.

Researcher/Reporter - Network Communications

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OTR Global's Network Communications group is looking for a Researcher in the U.S. to join its global team. The individual in this role will work closely with senior researchers in the group to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment audience by conducting primary research. The Network Communications Researcher should be able to efficiently develop new relationships with industry professionals - typically senior managers of North American wireless carriers and network operators, service partners for public cloud providers, wholesalers, and other high-level individuals - and maintain those relationships over time.
The Researcher needs to be creative, curious, and most of all determined to build a dependable list of contacts often viewed as difficult to reach. The Reporter’s primary responsibility will be conducting in-depth interviews and contributing source feedback to research reports. Regular writing opportunities may be assigned after showing ability to deliver high quality source interviews, so clear, concise writing and communication skills are other important aspects of this role. This is a telecommuting position, and a unique opportunity to work with and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research companies in the securities industry.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in investigative reporting, research and/or network engineering and network infrastructure for wireless service providers; knowledge of the financial industry and investment basics a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in telecommunications or experience in journalism and research of network communications topics.
  • Ability to develop new sources across various network communications, infrastructure and cloud services topics, and maintain relationships over time in a virtual setting; existing high-level wireless carrier, components OEMs and service partners sources a plus.
  • Understanding of the key trends shaping the telecommunications carrier and supplier landscape and LTE/5G technologies development, and ability to identify inflections in those trends; knowledge of network components industry, data center and cloud technologies a plus.
  • Well developed, positive communication and excellent interviewing skills; ability to “connect the dots” and clearly articulate research conclusions.
  • Must be available for occasional travel to key industry events in North America for in-person networking/source development opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, proactive thinking, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and work under pressure; schedule flexibility a must.

OTR Global's Enterprise Technology group is looking for a Researcher in Europe to join its global team and conduct primary research in France. The individual in this role should be adept at covering a broad array of topics within the tech industry in France. They will work closely with Director of Enterprise Technology Research and other researchers in the team to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment audience by conducting primary research. The Technology Researcher should be able to efficiently develop new relationships with industry professionals in France - typically enterprise hardware and network security companies’ implementation partners, resellers and distributors, and other high-level individuals - and maintain those relationships over time.

The Researcher needs to be creative, curious, and most of all determined to build a dependable list of contacts often viewed as difficult to reach. The Researcher’s primary responsibility will be conducting in-depth interviews by phone and contributing source feedback to research reports. Clear and concise communication skills are also important aspects of this role. This is an hourly telecommuting position, and a unique opportunity to work with and learn from one of the most differentiated investment research companies in the securities industry.

Personal and Professional Qualifications

  • Background in the technology industry, IT consulting, or in reporting and/or research; knowledge of the financial industry and investment basics a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in inside sales at enterprise hardware or security companies, IT consulting, or experience in journalism and research of enterprise technology topics.
  • Ability to network in remote setting and develop new sources across various enterprise technology topics, and maintain relationships over time; existing high-level implementation partner, distributor and reseller sources a plus.
  • Understanding of the key trends shaping the enterprise technology landscape, and ability to identify inflections in those trends.
  • Well developed, positive communication and excellent interviewing skills; ability to “connect the dots” and clearly articulate research conclusions.
